I seek to gain a larger understanding of nature and our complex role within it through the layering of naturally existing pattern at disparate scales. The simultaneity and transformed reality that this process allows helps me to explore the relationships between the micro and macro scales of the natural world. Organic patterns that link microbial colonies, computed tomography brain scans, human cities, and celestial bodies surface in my work as the slow, cumulative processes I use mimic the growth, change, and evolution of such observed systems. My art has endeavored to satisfy my analytical curiosity about perceptual reality and now also seeks to establish a visual structure and practice for spiritual inquiry beyond it; transparent, superpositioned subjects, shifting between forms and scales, suggest both fragility and transcendence.
